Monthly broadband discount for qualifying low-income households.

Prentiss Connect participates in the federal Lifeline program, which provides a monthly discount on broadband internet service for qualifying low-income households.

Program Overview

Lifeline is a federal benefit program administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) and overseen by the FCC. It provides eligible households with a monthly discount of up to $9.25 on broadband internet service. Only one Lifeline discount is allowed per household.

Eligibility Requirements

You may qualify for Lifeline if your household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if you or a household member participates in one of the following programs:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP / Food Stamps)
  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
  • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
  • Tribal programs (LIHEAP, Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, Tribal Head Start)

Benefit Amount

The standard Lifeline benefit is $9.25 per month applied directly to your Prentiss Connect service charge on your PCEPA bill. Qualifying Tribal lands residents may be eligible for a higher benefit of up to $34.25 per month.

How to Apply

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Online: Visit lifeline.universalservice.org to apply through the National Verifier and check your eligibility instantly.
  2. In person: Visit our office at 201 W. Church St., Booneville, MS 38829 or call 662-596-6688. Bring documentation of your qualifying program participation or income.

Once approved, your benefit will be applied to your next monthly bill.

Program Rules and Restrictions

  • Only one Lifeline benefit per household — not per person.
  • You must re-certify your eligibility annually.
  • Failure to use your service for 30 consecutive days may result in de-enrollment.
  • Fraudulent enrollment in Lifeline is a violation of federal law and may result in criminal penalties.
